CARL JOHNSON

DVM, Chief Medical Officer, MBF Therapeutics, Inc.

After receiving his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University, Carl began his veterinary career in mixed animal practice in Vermont and New York, practicing in both rural and urban settings.  After several years of clinical practice, he joined Pfizer Animal Health in a US veterinary technical services position.  As the industry consolidated and new opportunities appeared, this led to a progression of roles and increasing responsibilities in R&D with several animal and human health multinationals:  Schering-Plough Animal Health, Pfizer AH (international HQ), Intervet, Inc., Baxter HealthCare and Merial, Ltd.  From roles focused on new product development and regulatory affairs, to leading technical teams, running Life Sciences organizations, and managing R&D portfolios, Carl has most recently served as the Chief Medical Officer at Premune, Inc. a veterinary biotech start-up based in Sweden, and Chief Executive Officer at Prairie Diagnostic Services, Inc., a full service veterinary diagnostic laboratory at the University of Saskatchewan’s Western College of Veterinary Medicine.  While in Saskatchewan, Carl served as President of Saskatoon’s Pets in the Park, a charitable organization that hosts a major annual fund raising event supporting three animal rescue organizations in Saskatoon.
